...before spending a dime more, on their customers.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Those money hungry scumbags, are basically bitching that they can’t spend more to improve the customer experience, so that Cadillac gains more prestige. Yeah? Fuck ‘em! If you can’t invest enough to reach the standards commanded by a premium brand, go back at screwing Buick buying, old people, and remember that you don’t do anything to develop or build the cars you’re selling. Fucking assholes.

I like the idea of a dealership for fancy cars where you go to order them. At Jaguar, >50% of the cars we sold were custom orders or cars that were sent from another dealer out of state.

Any money they spend “on” customers must necessarily come *from* customers. At its core, the plan’s intent is to consolidate to fewer, bigger dealers who can afford more perks but will also command a price premium.
Whether it makes business sense or not depends on a lot of things, but the outcome is definitely higher prices for buyers. Personally I’d rather keep the unwashed masses around, as it increases the likelihood I can find a reasonable deal on an ATS-V this century...don’t care how premium the coffee or waiting lounge are.

Of course they will criticize the plan. It means they have to do actual work.
On the other hand, there are probably ways of getting back at them. Allocations not exactly what they need, slow response time for anything outside what GM allocates, and if it gets bad enough, threaten to move the franchise to another owner by claiming that they aren’t meeting targets (undisclosed of course)

I think I have Johan de Nysschen’s email reply right here:
“It would appear that you are not selling Cadillacs at your Cadillac dealership. Thus, it must be asked exactly what you are doing FOR ME in order for me to do FOR YOU ? Im simply attempting to save our customers the confusion of walking into a Cadillac branded store and not leaving in a new Cadillac. Now, you may not be what we are looking for in a continued relationship with Cadillac, but when I look at you do you know what I see? Buick material .”

They’re basically bitching that the new program will shut down dealerships that sell fewer than 100 cars per year. Cadillac sold 170k cars in the US in 2014, and they had 928 dealers at the beginning of 2015. That means on average a dealership is pushing 184 new Cadillacs out the door. If on average my chain of delicious chicken and waffle restaurants sold $1,840,000 each year, but I had a handful that sold under $1,000,000 annually, I would probably close them or thing about rolling them up into one of the larger restaurants.

Unfortunately people still use prices to measure the value of a product, and when there are a lot of very good cars out there, selling at barging price sends the message that something might be wrong with your product.
In a world of relatively comparable prices, with less and less enthusiasts, it’s the customer experience that makes the difference.

They just want to stay in business. If they lose their franchise because they do not have a big enough target market to afford those services, then they likely will have just as big a difficulty under another brand that is probably already established (who says there isn’t already a buick dealer in their town lol). Some towns are big enough to support a cadillac dealer, but not a fancy one.
